Robotics? Seriously, Robotics?

I saw this gentleman on my way in to a UM football game this saturday. Thanks to the marvels of technology (i.e. my new camera phone) I was able to snap a clandestine photo of him and share the joy with you.

Three(ish) words: Worst letterjacket ever.

dammit! I feel so swindled that there was a high school that had a pool AND a robotics team and I lived so close! fucking rich suburbs. At my school, we had a soccer team that folded after a couple practices and took gym in a classroom where they also served lunch.

why, in MY day we didn't have any fancy RO-bots... we played with inanimate objects, and we LIKED it!

I wonder if the robots in question can swim and play water polo? That would be quite an accomplishment.

Also, I would argue that this man (or if you will, a half-man, therefore a "ma") has created inanimate robots. While the robots move around and display qualities one associates with animate things, they are still quite inanimate in nature since they are not alive intrinsically but rather powered by electricity and when you turn the switch off, they are totally inanimate.

Just like my car.

you will be the first against the wall when my glorious robot revolution arrives, Mack. Inanimate, indeed.

As someone who was born in Libertyville, I would like to take this opportunity to curse my parents for depriving me of that high school experience.

This robotics thing is huge from what I hear. It was started by Dean KAmen (sp?) the guy who made the Segway scooter thingus as a way to get kidns more involved in sciences. The son of a chick I work with was on the Hammond indiana Robotics team and if you made it to nationals you got to go to Disney world for the finals and crap.

I remember high school. Long periods of playing hacky sac interlaced with periodds of fearing for my life.... god bless Chicago Publlic Schools.
